Congratulations!

Following is email copy from their proud mothers Xiaojie Li and Li-Hong Xu:

Jim Che (11 years old) and Miranda Xu Lees (9 years old) both participated in the 70th Annual New Brunswick Competitive Festival of Music held in Saint John from April 24 to May 6th, 2006, where Jim competed in Grade 6 Piano classes, and Miranda competed in Grade 3 Piano and Grade 4 violin classes.

Each of them led their individual classes and qualified to enter the final competition at the April Mills Junior Concert Competition on April 29, 2006. As proud parents, we are very please to share our excitement with our community that Jim received the Lillian Clark Memorial Award for Junior Piano and was selected as one of the two representatives from our festival to compete in the upcoming NB Provincial Music Festival to be held in Moncton in June. We wish him the best! At the April Mills Junior Concert Competition, Miranda was awarded the Jessie Ward Barker Memorial Trophy for Outstanding Junior Strings.

Chinese Cultural Association of Saint John would like to thank you all for your dedicated support and participation in the past year.

Along with Asian Heritage month Celebration, we would like to gather our members and friends again on Saturday, May 6, 2006 from 5pm-9pm for 2006 Annual General meeting and a Pot-Luck Dinner. Event location is Stone Church.

We’d like to present our progress and financial report to our members. And announce our plans for the next year. Your opinions are important to us. Please let our board know about it.

And more importantly to our association development, please renew your membership.

Chinese Cultural Association of Saint John recently has some changes on our board of directors. Former Education Director Michelle (Qin Li) will leave Saint John soon and start her new career and life in another city; former Social Director Xinhai Li has left Saint John and is uncertain of the date he may come back, he has acknowledged the board to find a new director for his position.

Both Liqun Sun and Ivy Wang have been members of CCASJ for a long time. They have expressed their interests, passions and experiences to volunteer for CCASJ.
The board has voted Sun Li Qun as our new Social director and Ivy Wang as our new Education Director.

According to CCASJ constitution, Liqun Sun, the Social director, will be charge of all matters pertaining to the social activities, and Ivy Wang, as an education director, will be charge of all matters pertaining to the educational and academic activities organized and conducted by the association,

The board would like to represent all of our members to thank Michelle Li and Xinhai Li for their dedicated hard work for CCASJ in the past. And we wish them all the best in their future and welcome them to join us anytime in the future.

Directions to Renforth Wharf:

Take Exit 133 toward Highway 100 (the exit will read Rothesay)
Turn Left onto the Fox Farm Road
Bear Right onto Fox Farm Road
At the bottom of the Fox Farm Rd. cut across the Rothesay Rd almost diagonally to Wharf Street / James Renforth Drive.

Park & Ride:

How it works:

The Park and Ride is a free service courtesy of Saint John Transit available for teams, volunteers, and spectators. We are encouraging everyone to take advantage of this service as there is limited parking available at the site. The bus will be picking people up at the Rothesay Arena and the Kennebecasis Super Store (directions below) every 20 minutes throughout the day. The bus will take everyone directly to the Festival Site and bring them back to their cars. The service will start at 6:30a.m. and run until 6:00pm

115 Campbell Drive.
Take exit 137B
Once off the ramp keep right
Drive to the end of the intersection and keep right again onto Campbell Drive
Go straight through the first set of lights and turn into the Superstore at the second set of lights.

Map to Rothesay Arena:

Take exit 137B
Once off the ramp keep right
Drive to the end of the intersection and keep right again onto Campbell Drive
Turn left at the first set of lights onto the Marr Rd.
At the second set of lights turn left onto the Hampton Road
Drive just past the CIBC mini mall and Rothesay High is on the right hand side of the Road.
The Arena is located to the right of the high school
