Wednesday, August 26th, 2009The Chinese Cultural Association of Saint John (CCASJ) is planning to offer Chinese Mandarin Language and Culture classes to those of you who are interested in learning and practicing Chinese. The course scope is outlined below:
CHINESE CLASS for KIDS: 6-12 Years
Topics:
• CHINESE CHARACTERS
• PINYIN
• STORIES
• POEMS
• SONGS
CHINESE CULTURE CLASS for YOUTHS & ADULTS
Topics:
• BUSINESS LANGUAGE
• CHINESE COOKING
• TEA CULTURE
• TRAVEL IN CHINA
TIME: 6:30-7:30pm for Kids; 6:30-8:30pm for Adults;
Monday, Sept. 21-Dec. 14
(12 weeks, excluding Oct.12, the Thanksgiving Monday)
LOCATION: 87 Carleton St. Stone Church
FEE: $50 (CCASJ MEMBERS), $70 (NON-MEMBERS)

2009 Saint John Dragon Boat Festival
Tuesday, August 25th, 2009Dear member,
The 2009 dragon boat festival will take place on August 29, 2009, Saturday, 9:00am – 5:00pm at the Renforth Wharf in Rothesay, New Brunswick.
The Saint John Dragon Boat Festival is a fundraising project of St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation. The goal of this years festival will be to raise the $250,000 needed to transform a portion of an inner-city property into a Wellness Garden and Sanctuary of patients and their families.
Chinese community will perform dances and music at the festival. The detailed program and schedule are can be viewed by clicking here.

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009Congratulations to four girls from the Chinese community, Amy, Miranda, Rose, and Yu, who were part of the flag bearer team at the openning ceremony of the Royale Cup Canadian Junior Girls’ Championship hosted by the Hampton Golf Club on Aug. 3, 2009.
